I think I did not grow until I sat and took notes and the verses the speaker used and studied them myself. You see, some presented a different thought from what I KNEW to be truth. But in prayful thought, I knew I was growing up to what was presented in the scriptures and it was not what I had always thought it was. It was bruising coming out of the womb of protection, but I am glad the birth did occur. And now I love more fully too.

Some good things to pray about. I certainly judge others when I listen to them speak.

Excellent thoughts. The more we focus on Jesus and his priorities; the less we think about our theological differences.

I like this thought very much and I think it will change a lot of attitudes if practiced. Thanks John.

Me too, John. It's really difficult for me to listen to someone else. I think it has something to do with peer group dynamics. I also think it's rooted in pride. When I was in the car business, I found mechanics to be extremely insecure about their knowledge. If I poked my head under a hood, it was no problem for the mechanic working on the car. I wasn't in his peer group. If another mechanic, however, offered an uninvited word or two, all hell broke loose. All the mechanics knew all the answers all the time and had nothing to learn from anyone.

When I'm listening to other preachers, a dark shadow deeply engrained in my flesh, leads me to consider everything in light of my fragile ego. I try to recognize it for what it is and not give in to the temptation to belittle, critique and all the rest. It's a significant challenge even though I'm normally quite aware of my ignorance and medicore talents.
